Article: Follow Your Cosmic Intuition
Follow Your Cosmic Intuition
My brand is founded by mystical and cosmic intuition; tender guidance from each goddess, TYCHE + ISET. I design and create things with intention and integrity.
As an Artist, I find deeper meanings through signs from the Universe. I weave personal experiences and interests from throughout my life into my creative work.
My goal is to bring you joy through an imaginative adventure and tinted lenses. The most valuable moments in life are often simple, yet significant details. TYCHE + ISET would like to remind you of these moments.
History and Mythology are among my favorite subjects. They are vivid, thought-provoking, and spark self-reflection. Additionally, Nature is the true catalyst to our designs, branding, and future.Behind the scenes (for the past few years), we have been working on experimental, recycled materials for various products and ideas. We want to turn waste into something to be cherished. There have been manufacturing difficulties and cost prohibitive issues out of our control. Yet, we will not give up. New ideas take time, tinkering, and unrelenting faith!
However, we are super proud to introduce our sustainable and eco-friendly packaging, which we are able to implement NOW.
Helping Americans, while stimulating our own economy has been a major goal (even as a very small business with limited financial resources). We are happy to achieve that first step through our new packaging, which is made in USA + handmade in Los Angeles!
We want you to feel that you are receiving an exceptional gift when you select TYCHE + ISET EYEWEAR.
We want you to feel RADIANT when you wear our sunglasses.
You should feel a surge of energy as you inspect the illustrations, color, and details. We want the Goddesses to guide you throughout your days — leading you to a beautiful view or epiphany.
Our packaging is overflowing with mythological symbolism. It is an amulet for ‘luck,’ ‘abundance,’ and ‘protection.’ Every detail is original and deliberate. Our design is exclusive to TYCHE + ISET.
Many of our design choices are influenced by gemstones and jewelry. Since I was a young girl, I have been collecting and making jewelry from gemstones. The box mimics an emerald-cut shape and has an Amazonite gemstone pendant pull-tab. This stone was used in Ancient Egypt for amulets and jewelry.
Amazonite is a healing stone and an energy cleanser. It is said to bring success, abundance, and attracts good fortune.
Ideas flow naturally to me through an instinctive artistic sense. Through research, I often discover a connection to the Ancient civilizations of each Goddess linking my work to them. I am filled with surprise and excitement whenever this occurs. I feel completely in-tune with each Goddess.
Our company color is a deep midnight blue (among my favorites). Serendipitously, the color blue was paramount in Ancient Egypt. In fact, Ancient Egyptians invented the first synthetic blue pigment through use of advanced techniques and materials.
Blue was sacred, including variations ranging from a tint through a deep, rich hue. The color represented water (an important aspect of Egyptian culture: the Nile and the seasons of agriculture), the Heavens/Sky, the face of Amun (Sun God), the hair of the Gods, the association of good luck, and the protection from evil. You will see this color throughout many ancient artifacts, artwork, tombs, pharaoh sarcophagi, and temples.I memorialized a personal experience and mythology emblems through an original artwork illustration for our box packaging.
Several years ago, while back-packing in Indonesia, I had a spiritual and uplifting experience with the Ocean, the Moon, and a Lightning Storm. This tiny island could be reached solely by boat. Cars and motorcycles were not allowed on the island (only bicycles or horse-drawn carriages). There were no tall buildings or loud nightlife (everything was closed by ~9pm).
Because of this, Nature was supreme. The dark night sky was vibrant with stars, while the chorus of insects hummed along with every crash of the ocean waves.
One evening, we decided to buy a ‘ticket to the moon.’ While we enjoyed an evening filled with laughter, I took notice of the brilliant Moon above me. It appeared as a molecular ‘Atom,’ with delicate, vivid white rotating rings of light that protected its ‘nucleus.’
Each time I looked up, the brilliant Moon would fall closer to me, allowing me to inspect its glowing strings and vibrating energy. It felt so close that I could reach up and hold it in my hands.
And, then as quickly as it appeared close enough to touch, it would fly back to its rightful place in the sky; similar to that of a yo-yo toy.At the same time, there was a Lightning Storm off in the distance, striking the ocean with bright electric colors. This was stunning. As my feet sank into the warm sand, I felt a re-charge from the Ocean’s power. Every teeny speck of rock, from millions of years of Earth, instilled grounded energy throughout my entire being. Every wave that crashed over my legs felt like a magnet, pulling me physically and emotionally further into that Moment. I will never forget that experience. It was a rebirth and a transformation.
The Sun and the Lotus flower are important to Ancient Egyptian civilization and mythology. They represent the story of Creation, rebirth, regeneration, and transformation.
Ancient Egyptians believed that the source of all Life arose from the Sun God, Atum. Born from the golden seed of a Lotus flower, Atum banished all primeval darkness, known as Nun. The movement of the sun across the sky was viewed with dual significance: a life cycle and a metaphorical journey.
ISET was linked to the Sun as well as the Moon (which is an extension of the sun throughout the night; representing fertility, magic and femininity).
The excerpt below is from an inscription that reveal the identity and characteristics of ISET (also known by her Greek name, Isis).
[excerpt copied from a temple of Hephaestus in Memphis, Egypt]
“…I divided the earth from the heaven.
I showed the paths of the stars.
I ordered the course of the sun and the moon….
I am the Queen of war.
I am the Queen of the thunderbolt.
I stir up the sea and I calm it.
I am in the rays of the sun.
I inspect the courses of the sun.
Whatever I please, this too shall come to an end.
With me everything is reasonable…”
In Nature, the Blue Lotus flower will open each morning to greet the Sun. It will share its beautiful gleaming center toward the sky, while releasing an intoxicating, sweet perfume. In Ancient Egypt, scent is regarded as a sign that a God is present or of a divine epiphany.
TYCHE, is depicted with various symbols, including a ‘wheel of fortune’ — which can spin in any direction to find your Fate. Our destiny and ‘luck’ is tied to her grace (including bad luck). She was revered in many Ancient cosmopolitan cities for protection and for prosperity.
Can you see the Moon, the Sun, the Lotus, and the Wheel in our illustration? The drawing is inspired by the foundation of this brand, its journey, and its essence. When you slide open the inner tray of our box packaging, you will find additional illustration motifs and hieroglyphics that represent TYCHE + ISET (and ancient civilizations).Wheat is associated with rebirth, resurrection, abundance, life, and fertility — grain has magical properties.
The water hieroglyph (the zig zag line) is representative of the importance of water for life and sustenance. Water is a theme within the origin stories of TYCHE + ISET (we will share more about this another time).
The Blue Lotus flower symbolizes the creation cycle of life. When the morning rays of the sun touch the lotus, its buds spread open, rising from the surface of the water. Then, it closes its petals when darkness falls. When you slide open the box, you are allowing the lotus flower to “bloom.”
The four corners and walls of temples metaphorically hold the microcosm of our Universe within. Objects placed inside were gifts to stabilize the Universe and to please the Gods to favor cities and civilizations. Columns were inscribed with lotus flowers or other illustrations not only for beauty, but as a form of communication and devotion.
Our box is a miniature shrine to the Goddesses and Gods within ourselves. You are able to take charge of your destiny or to transform yourself by reigning in positive thinking, educating yourself, being prepared for opportunity, and implementing healthy habits.
The inner tray bed holds our sustainable, protective pouches and our sunglasses designs — it is our gift to you!
